The theme for the Carol Boyes New Designer Search 2009 is FRUIT-FULL, which encompasses abundancy, originality, creativity and resourcefulness of thought and imagination. As the fruits of our earth differ in shape, style, texture and colour so should the "FRUIT-FULL" bowls. Fruits and flowers burst into bud, burgeon, blossom, ripen, fill out, hang, recline, creep, stand upright.
With this in mind the brief is to design a FRUIT-FULL bowl that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. The finished product is to lend itself to manufacture in metal; stainless steel, aluminium or pewter.
The finalist prototypes will be on exhibition at the Waterfront from August until October 2009.
Botha, Brandon - Source option 1
The ubiquitous "African Street Wire Art" was the motivating factor in Brandon's decision to showcase his creation. Manufactured in stainless steel, this clean, industrial looking item features a basic frame around which a length of wire has been carefully twined.
